Born in the U.S, where she studied religion and art at Harvard, Ashmore began practicing meditation in 1985 and was authorized to teach in 1998. A gentle revolutionary, she has taught meditation through deep rest on silent, intensive retreats in a dozen countries. She has spent most of her adult life living in India with her teachers, and her nonprofit Open Dharma has supported awakening in thousands of people from any and no religion since 1999. In her teachings, Jaya Ashmore integrates her own love of meditation—and of life—with deep experience in the traditions of Buddhism, yoga, Advaita (non-duality), Christianity and Hindu mysticism, as well as ecology, embodied movement, and the Japanese art of Jin Shin Jyutsu.

על ההרצאה
הסדנה תועבר בשפה האנגלית | The workshop will be in English
Jaya will offer half an hour of deep rest meditation followed by a half-hour dharma talk on getting in touch with reality.
Reality is already present, but we are not usually present to reality. When our minds and hearts are open to life, things happen effortlessly. Kindness is available. Intelligence comes through. Transformation and awakening happen by themselves. But we have gotten accustomed to living in alarm. We almost believe that there is no way to live without stress, anxiety, fear, resistance or contraction. Lowering our alarm system is not the same as pretending that nothing is wrong. Every day and in every age, there are ups and downs, crises and times of peace. As human beings, we have the potential to be in touch with a deeper reality, beyond the ups and downs of our circumstances. To get more in touch with reality, we can recognize that most of our reactions are programmed–shaped by the past rather than the present. We can practice tuning into something more alive than our habits, wounds and survival strategies. We can cultivate restfulness and connection to aliveness beyond ideas. And then we can let life live itself. Our fear is that this creative ease is not realistic, but our fear is the obstacle to reality. Simply noticing fear as fear, we can learn to receive reality, and discover we are already fully participating in it. We are already so close to what we long for. With practice, we can live with the fulfillment of belonging to life, and the generosity of life living through us.
