Mohammed S. Dajani Daoudi is a Palestinian scholar born in Jerusalem where he currently lives. He was the founding director of the American Studies Graduate Program and General Director of Libraries at al-Quds University in Jerusalem. In 2007, he established the Wasatia moderate Islamic movement, which aims at promoting peace, moderation, reconciliation, coexistence, and interfaith dialogue. He gained international recognition for his extensive record in advancing awareness concerning peace education and Holocaust education. In March 2014, he became the center of heated outbursts in Palestine and the social networks for leading 27 Palestinian students on a visit to the Auschwitz Nazi death concentration camp in Poland. The Palestinian public outcry, university campus demonstrations, and death threats pressured him to resign from his posts at the university. He is currently the founding director of the Wasatia Academic Institute which in cooperation with the European University in Flensburg, Germany, established The Wasatia Graduate School for Tolerance and Reconciliation, an interdisciplinary doctorate program on the topics of reconciliation, moderation, empathy, tolerance, conflict resolution, and ethics.
